New City Academy offers a quality education in each of the core subject areas - math, science, language arts and social studies - that is aligned with Michigan standards. The academy also offers instruction in computers and technology, art, music, drama and Spanish.

Character education is an additional focus of the student learning experience, with skills and practices that include goal setting, dressing for success, talking for success, integrity in word and action, self discipline and respect. These are emphasized daily through reward programs and daily teacher-student interactions.

Special education at New City Academy is based on inclusion, meaning that students with special needs are taught in general education classrooms with both special and general education students. A full-time special education teacher is employed in the school under the administration of a special education director from the school's management company. The special education process is individualized and based on continuous communication and feedback from the student and family, general education teacher, special education teacher and special education director.
